American officials unequivocally declare the support for the independence and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova
8 February 2019, Washington D.C. – Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Tudor Ulianovschi, who is undertaking a working visit to the USA, had a series of meetings on the 7th of February with high-ranking American officials from the National Security Council, Department of State and U.S. Congress.

During the meeting with Fiona Hill, Deputy Assistant to the President of the United States of America, Senior Director for European and Russia Affairs at the National Security Council, as well as in the discussions at the Department of State, the perspectives of developing the Moldovan-American cooperation, with a focus on strengthening the Strategic Dialogue, were approached, as well as the perspectives of developing the cooperation in the field of cyber security, the sides examining the dynamic of regional and international developments.

Meetings at the U.S. Congress have included discussions with the Co-Chairmen of the Moldova Caucus in the United States House of Representatives, Congressmen David Price and Pete Olson, as well as with Senator Ron Johnson, member of the Foreign Affairs Committee, who have reiterated the full support for the Republic of Moldova in its efforts to strengthen democracy and economic development.

The head of Moldovan diplomacy has participated, as a main guest, at a roundtable organised by the Atlantic Council, which has brought together representatives of the US Administration and opinion leaders in Washington D.C., during which sides have exchanged views on developing the Moldovan-American cooperation in various fields, reaffirming the importance of maintaining the Republic of Moldova on the foreign policy priority agenda of the American Administration.

During all the discussions held by Minister Tudor Ulianovschi with the American officials, the unequivocal support of the USA for the independence and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova was underlined, as well as the necessity to intensify the cooperation on several dimensions.

In the context of the future parliamentary elections in the Republic of Moldova, USA dignitaries have encouraged the conduct of free and correct elections, according to OSCE standards.
