Moldovan Community in Italy

1. The System of normative acts of the Republic of Moldova reglementing the support of the Moldovan diaspora includes the following documents:

Decree of the President of the Republic of Moldova nr. 1638-II as of 30.08.2000 on "Supporting the people originating from the Republic of Moldova residing abroad and cooperating with them";

Decision of the Government of the Republic of Moldova nr. 1322 as of 29.12.2000, on "Certain mesures for supporting the people originating from the Republic of Moldova and residing abroad";

Decision of the Government of the Republic of Moldova nr. 228 as of 24.02.2005 on "Approval of the Regulation of the Coordinating Council of people originating from the Republic of Moldova and residing abroad";

Decision of the Government of the Republic of Moldova nr. 1317 as of 13.12.2005 on "Approval of the amemdments operated to Government Decision nr. 1322 as of 29.12.2000 by which is approved the new nominal componence of the Coordinating Council for supporting the people originating from the Republic of Moldova and residing abroad";

Decision of the Government of the Republic of Moldova nr. 809 as of 10.07.2006 on "Approval of the Action Plan for supporting the people originating from the Republic of Moldova and residing abroad (the moldovan diaspora), for the period 2006-2009".

These documents prove that the Republic of Moldova, having accumulated the legislative and practical experience for the support of national minorities on its territory, is taking, within its external policy, the engagement to contribute to the satisfaction of national-cultural needs of Moldovans residing abroad.

The function of coordinating the process of promotion of the state policy regarding the suport for the Moldovan diaspora is exercised by the Bureau of Interethnic Relations – a body of the central public administration of the Republic of Moldova.
